Caring Opportunities

Hineynu: We Are Here

Hineynu promotes a strong and sacred community through thoughtful and meaningful acts of kindness that connect, nurture, and sustain our Temple family. In doing so, we seek to embody the Hebrew concept of hineynu (“We are here”). We are here not only to console one another in times of hardship, but also to support each other in times of need and to celebrate together in times of joy.

As a caring and supportive faith family, we constantly review the ways in which we can support TBE members during difficult times. The following initiatives are a few of the many ways we seek to help when times are tough:

If you would like to volunteer, please fill out this form.
If you have questions, please contact Maggie Fogel.
If you are in need of support, please contact the clergy office.

BEREAVEMENT

The bereavement team reaches out to mourners in the weeks and months following the death of a loved one. If you would like to be a part of this effort, please contact Amy Fine, Clergy Assistant.

CHEVRAH KADISHA - A HOLY SOCIETY

“As he came, so shall he go” says Ecclesiastes.  Just as the newborn child is immediately washed as he enters the world, so is he lovingly cleaned and prepared as he leaves this world.  The greatest mitzvah we can fulfill is caring for those who have died.  This act is so esteemed in our tradition that it is called chesed shel emet — a true act of grace.  If you would like to join Chevra Kaddisha and be trained for performing taharah (the ritual washing and preparing for burial) those members of our congregation who have made that request, please contact Courtney Rosenthal.

MILESTONE MOMENTS

Help us help congregants celebrate simchas! We reach out to newly married couples, the newest members of our Jewish community, and families welcoming new additions. If you would like to be part of this effort, please contact Amy Fine, Clergy Assistant.

SENIOR TO SENIOR

Senior to Senior is a SPICE program that matches senior volunteers from Temple Beth El with home bound seniors for monthly visits to bring them socialization and friendship. If you would like to get involved, please contact Carol Sandler.
