One of my favorite things about being Jewish is the food. I really enjoy latkes at Hanukkah and all the sweet foods at Rosh Hashanah. I especially enjoy how certain foods are specific to a holiday, and those foods make holidays feel special. Another favorite thing about Judaism is the community. I enjoy having a group of friends and family to celebrate all the Jewish holidays with.

For me, becoming a bar mitzvah means that I can support the community and participate more. I have enjoyed learning more this year about what being Jewish means to other Sheva students, and about what Judaism says about certain topics. Before Covid my family was involved with lots of community volunteer activities but Covid has made it harder to be involved in things in person. During the pandemic we have supported the community by writing lots of postcards reminding people to vote in the elections in November and January. Now that I am a bar mitzvah I plan to join Hebrew High and to volunteer in the religious school as a madrich.
