One of my favorite things about being Jewish is the opportunities to connect with other people within our community. I love participating in Hebrew High, BBYO and especially 6 points sports academy where I get to meet other Jewish people from different places. For me, becoming a Bat Mitzvah means that I now have more responsibilities, like fasting on Yom Kippur and passing on Jewish tradition. While preparing for my Bat Mitzvah I learned that with consistent work and effort I can learn new things even if they may be challenging. Now that I have become a Jewish adult, I plan to continue celebrating holidays, and continue to engage with the Jewish community, not only in Charlotte but other places, too.

My wonderful parents are Heather and Scott Salam; I have two older brothers, Sam and Noah. My grandparents on my mother’s side are Arlene and Glen Kerns who live in Charlotte NC. Also in Charlotte is my Grandma Dianne Salam, on my father’s side. My grandma Leslie Salam lives in Georgetown, Texas.
