My favorite thing about being Jewish is learning from the Torah with a very loving community. Becoming a Bat Mitzvah to me means working hard to earn a role in the Jewish community. While preparing for my Bat Mitzvah, I learned that I do genuinely enjoy learning about Judaism.

For my mitzvah project, I collected donations such as money and cleaning supplies for a domestic violence shelter. I chose this because I feel that domestic violence is a big problem that doesn’t get talked about enough. When researching what the shelters need, I felt very fortunate and grateful for having a loving family. Now that I am a Jewish adult, I will continue learning about Judaism by going to services and Hebrew High.

My parents are Joel and Bonnie Kunkel and my sister is Charlie Kunkel. My Dad’s parents are Jacqualyn Sullivan and John Kunkel. His mom was born and raised in South Dakota and his dad was adopted but raised in South Dakota as well. My mom’s mom was born in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Miami.
