The most important thing to me about being Jewish is the friendships and community that I have been surrounded with while growing up. From Charlotte Jewish Preschool to Camp Mindy summer day camp to overnight camp at Blue Star, I have experienced the value of being surrounded by Charlotte’s nurturing Jewish community nearly every day of my life. During the pandemic especially, while I have attended Camp Mindy 365 for virtual school all this year, I have felt the strength of our community and my ties to Judaism.

For my service project I am setting up supply drive to help kids with sickle cell disease at Levine Children’s hospital who require long hospital stays. I chose this project because my dad works there and told me about the need for this group of patients to have support. Supporting our community, the way I have been supported in difficult times is important to me.
