To become a Bat Mitzvah meant that I would be learning about the Torah, Jewish prayers, and Judaism. It also meant that I would read from the Torah, which is a big part for me, because the Torah is the biggest part of Judaism. As a Jewish adult I will continue to help out in the community. I will also continue to spend Jewish holidays with family and friends. I will continue to learn from the Jewish community, and my family and friends. Being Jewish to me means being with my family – it is important to celebrate with my friends and family.
For part of my Mitzvah Project, I went with my Mom to Friendship Trays, a Meals on Wheels Program. Friends Trays prepares and serves meals for people who can’t afford or can’t make meals for themselves. We started out early in the morning cutting bread, and then moved on to the assembly line where we prepared trays of food to be delivered later. Seeing the smiles on all the regular volunteers’ faces made it more a mitzvah because everyone was working out of love to help the less fortunate, which was the mitzvah I fulfilled.
