One thing I have loved about being Jewish is the connection I made with my classmates through services and religious school. Learning about our shared culture and traditions since Kindergarten has resulted in meaningful discussions and lasting friendships, even after my move to Charlotte. I’ve learned through my preparation to become a Bat Mitzvah that no amount of work is impossible, and I can persevere through challenges that come my way to be successful in life. My mitzvah project focused on helping those less fortunate than myself. I made and delivered sandwiches to a local homeless shelter and also stuffed and decorated snack bags for kids attending a local summer camp. I chose to do both projects because I was able to combine helping others with my own love of art. I plan to continue to attend services after my Bat Mitzvah to continue to learn about Judaism.

My parents’ names are Tama and Warren Thune. I have one younger brother, Max, who is 12 years old. My grandparents are Barbara and Joel Freedman of Delray Beach, FL, and Eleanor and Stanley Thune of Princeton, NJ.
