Since 1996, the Urban Ministry Center has partnered with colleges and congregations of many faiths to open their facilities to provide shelter and food for homeless people during the winter months, December 1 – March 31. Temple Beth El is privileged to be one of those partners. Each site offers a warm, safe place to sleep, serves three meals (dinner, breakfast and bag lunch) and then returns guests the following morning to uptown Charlotte.

The basic goal is to keep homeless people from freezing on cold winter nights. A greater goal is to provide a more personal relationship to homeless people, at least for a night, and to foster a deeper understanding of the depth and complexity of the issue.

Temple Beth El will be hosting Room In the Inn :
Thursday, December 24 – Friday December 25
Saturday, December 26 – Sunday December 27
Saturday, January 02 – Sunday, January 03
Saturday, January 16 – Sunday, January 17
Saturday, February 13 – Sunday, February 14
Saturday, March 26 – Sunday, March 27

There are so many ways you can help and be a part of this. The opportunities are endless and the payoff is so rewarding for so many. Please call or email Patty Torcellini at 704-236-1855 if you would like to be involved or if you have any questions.
