Weekend generously supported by the Sadie W. Levin Guest Speaker Endowment
Temple Beth El is honored to welcome Elana Arian and Iván Barenboim as our Artists-in-Residence.
Elana is a celebrated Jewish composer, prayer leader, and multi-instrumentalist whose beautiful music is already an integral part of our community’s worship experience. Iván is a gifted clarinetist and a regular player in the Central Synagogue instrumental ensemble, whose sound brings depth and soul to every performance.
Throughout the weekend, they’ll join Cantor Danielle Rodnizki and our clergy team for a series of programs that invite us to connect more deeply — with each other, with our tradition, and with the music that moves us.
We’ll begin the weekend with a special Shabbat service led by Elana Arian, Iván Barenboim, and our clergy team. Through familiar melodies and inspiring new sounds, we’ll celebrate the beauty of prayer and Jewish music as a community.
Join us after services for a Shabbat dinner with friends and family. We’ll serve chicken piccata with roasted vegetables, salad, and dessert.
Register by Sunday, November 30.
In this special Torah Study, Elana will lead a conversation on how music helps us interpret and experience sacred text. We’ll look at how different musical settings of the same prayer can open different emotions, questions, and understandings. All are welcome.
Due to the special nature of this Torah Study, this session will not be available on Zoom. We appreciate your understanding.
Wind down the week with dessert, coffee, and good company as we gather for an evening of soulful music. After time to schmooze, we’ll mark the end of Shabbat with Havdalah, followed by an intimate coffeehouse-style concert featuring Elana Arian and Iván Barenboim. This event is open to adults only (teens in high school and above are welcome).
Register by Tuesday, December 2.
Elana Arian will spend the morning with our Religious School students, leading music and preparing them to sing with her in a special family concert. Families are invited to join us at 10:30am in the Blumenthal Sanctuary for a spirited, joyful celebration featuring Elana and our students.
