Share Shabbat

Celebrate the spirit of Shabbat with Temple Beth El — at services, around dinner tables, or wherever you gather.

3 Ways to Participate

Host at Home

Welcome friends, coworkers, or neighbors for a Shabbat dinner in your home. We’ll provide a kit with candles, blessings, conversation cards, and Rabbi Erdheim’s challah recipe.

Bring a Friend

Share the spirit of Shabbat by inviting someone new to join you for Friday-night services at Temple Beth El.

Bring a Group to Tour Temple Beth El

Want to bring a group to visit TBE? We can arrange a guided experience with our trained docents, who will share the history, art, and spirit that make our synagogue a sacred space for learning and connection.

How It Works

Here’s what to expect when you take part in Share Shabbat.

Step 1: Sign Up

Let us know if you plan to host a Shabbat dinner or bring a friend or group to services.

Step 2: Receive Your Kit

Shabbat dinner hosts will receive candles, blessings, a kiddush cup, grape juice, conversation starters, and Rabbi Erdheim’s favorite challah recipe.

Step 3: Share Your Shabbat

Light candles, bless the wine, bring a friend to services, and take part in our goal of creating 540 Shabbat experiences across Charlotte this year.

We’d love to see how you celebrate!

Send us your photos, reflections, or stories from your Share Shabbat experience.

Our Mission in Action

“Share Shabbat is our invitation to reclaim Shabbat, not only as a spiritual practice, but as a practice of radical welcome. In a world that often pushes us to withdraw and in a moment when fear can feel like the safest response, we are choosing something different. We are choosing courage. We are choosing to open our doors, set our tables, cook meals for others, and share who we are with our neighbors.” — Rabbi Lexi Erdheim

Share Shabbat is made possible through the leadership of Temple Beth El’s Social Justice & Action Committee, whose commitment to building relationships and fostering understanding continues to guide this work.
