Having a Bar Mitzvah is something that my parents really wanted me to do, and I am glad I did it because of all of the things I learned that can be useful in life.  I met a lot of people and learned many social skills. I also learned a lot about music. I want to participate in the Temple Teen Band and I am thinking about becoming a B’nei Mitzvah tutor.  When it’s my brother’s turn to have his Bar Mitzvah, I can help him with his prayers. To me, being Jewish means being a part of a big community. I know many people through the summer camp I go to and it feels like a family.

My Mitzvah Project was volunteering at the Joyful Hearts Dance, which is a dance for people with disabilities. I chose it because it was something that I felt would really help a lot of people. After volunteering at the dance I really felt that I had made a difference. I had heard many of the people there saying that they had looked forward to the dance for a long time, and making sure they had a good time made me feel like I had an impact on someone’s life in a positive way.
