I am having a Bat Mitzvah because my parents thought it was important to have a religious foundation and they wanted me to know more about the community that I belong to.  I am glad I did it because I now have a sense of belonging.  I have been studying Hebrew and Judaism for many years and worked hard.  I have learned to read Hebrew and learned about the holidays. After my Bat Mitzvah, I hope to be a madricha, a teaching assistant, in the religious school.  I am proud to be Jewish because I enjoy services and the B’nei Mitzvah celebrations.

For my mitzvah project, I have and will be volunteering in a soup kitchen and with the elderly at an assisted living facility called Autumn Care in Huntersville. I will be visiting with older individuals who do not get a lot of visitors and listening to the stories of their lives. At the Mooresville Soup Kitchen, I will be helping to serve those who are in need.  I know that these mitzvah projects will make me feel good about myself because I will have done something nice for others. I will be fulfilling the mitzvot of honoring the elderly and feeding the hungry.
