The New Member TriBE is for congregants who have joined Temple Beth El over the past two years, as well as those who still feel new and seek a deeper, more meaningful connection with fellow congregants. The TriBE will remain open throughout the year, welcoming new members as they join TBE. We will meet monthly on the third Thursday, on Zoom, from 12:00pm – 1:00pm.
Our conversations will be relational and guided by Ask Big Questions, which is one of the curriculums available for TriBEs. Ellen Reich, TriBE Core Leadership Team Co-Chair, will be the primary facilitator; we anticipate other TBE lay leaders, clergy, and staff will also step in to lead the TriBE. Relational conversations are a way to get to know each other as individuals, discovering what we share, what is unique, and holding space for each other.
The New Member TriBE will be slightly different than many of the existing small groups by offering hour-long meetings and cyclical membership. Members are welcomed as they arrive in our community and will cycle out after they complete the one-year curriculum, joining existing TriBEs or starting new ones, as desired.
If membership grows too large to support meaningful conversation, we may subdivide into smaller groups rather than sacrifice the ability to connect with each other. We hope there is both enthusiasm and flexibility as we explore this small group model for new members together.
