Pray for Faith by Rabbi Judy Schindler

chesed for blog

Fear…
of those filled with hate
of violence
of guns and terrorism.

Faith…
in the good
in the “other”
in the ability to uproot evil.

Do not let fear close your hearts
close your minds
close your souls
(or close your borders
to refugees seeking sanctuary –
for we were once them).

Push through to
love your neighbor
love the stranger
love those whom you may consider “other”

And there,
in that eye to eye encounter
in that soul to soul sharing of stories
or even the simplest words
you will find God.

One Response

  1. On behalf of myself and the many people I will share this with: thank you so much for your powerful yet beautiful words that we can carry with us while we face our fears and strengthen our souls. So much overwhelming tragedy and so many reasons offered for us to turn away. We cannot let this happen. Thank you.
